This proof can include copies of receipts, and pictures of the game box + game cart if you purchased the physical edition receipts for any DLC you bought for the game probably wouldn't hurt either since it shows you successfully used your software to buy content from the eShop. All I had to do was provide Bandai Namco with proof of purchase and ownership.

I wrote Bandai Namco asking if there was any hope in still finding this content, and holy hell, they came through for me!! They gave me download codes for the Rare Item Pack and the 3DS background theme, and they both worked just fine (the background theme code needs to be entered in the 3DS Theme Shop).
Normally I don't care about stuff such as this, but this particular DLC pack offered an exclusive challenge stage (titled "The Woman from 10 Years Ago"), so it kind of irked me that gameplay was being withheld from the overall experience. I came across Project X Zone 2, and after doing a little reading found that there was limited time preorder DLC available for the game.
